Potato peas curry is one of the most simplest recipe that I learnt from my mom. I love the way how she makes it spicy and it tastes wonderful with any variety rice, sambar or rasam. This recipe takes hardly around 20 minutes to make and easy one to make on busy mornings and lazy weekends.
Ingredients:-
Potato | 3 medium sized |
Frozen peas | 1/4 cup |
Onion | 1 small sized |
Turmeric powder | a pinch |
Garam masala powder | 1/2 teaspoon |
Red chilli powder | 1 teaspoon |
Jeera | 1/2 teaspoon |
Salt | as needed |
Water | as needed |
Cooking instructions:-
1. Wash and peel potatoes and cut it into cubes or of any desired size.
2. Cut onions and if using frozen peas then wash it and microwave it for 30 seconds and keep it aside.
3. Heat oil in a pan or kadai and add mustard seeds. Then add jeera followed by
onion. Wait till onion turns transparent.
4. Add potatoes followed by turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala
powder and salt.
5. Sprinkle some water on top of potatoes and close the pan with lid. Turn stove
into medium flame.
6. Check the potatoes if it is done halfway. At this stage add frozen peas and let
it cook without closing the lid.
7. Garnish by adding coriander leaves and serve with any rice.
